Most of these were sung in English by Karl “Charlie” Schwedler, backed up by the Lutz Templin Orchestra. (Lale Anderson of “Lili Marlene” fame also appeared on a number of sides.) Though some songs were sung straight, most featured propaganda lyrics set to 1930s-era Anglo-American swing tunes. There are frequent references to Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin, all wrapped in outlandishly anti-Semitic lyrics. Most were recorded by the Reichsrundfunk GmbH (German Broadcasting Co, Ltd) and pressed in Deutsche Grammophon facilities. These records were not pressed for sale or commercial distribution; they were intended exclusively for broadcasting purposes.
