But little investigation has been done to the authentification of audio files. While MD5 checksums enable users and system administrators to certify the accuracy of files through time and migration, what assurance is being made that the digital data stream from the analog-to-digital converter is being delivered to the file? This presentation will share results of systematic tests made while certifying new digital audio hardware and software for use in audio preservation.
