The Archives is participating directly in the training of future sound engineers, preservationists and librarians through collaborations with both McGill’s School of Information Studies and the Tonmeister programme (granting masters and doctoral degrees) at the Schulich School of Music. It also provides training and guidance to staff from other universities, churches, and museums such as the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner. From outreach programs inviting high school students to discover the history of recorded sound to graduate-level seminars and research projects on audio preservation, digitization, and metadata standards, the Archives has developed a sophisticated plan for integrating its collections and expertise into the academic milieu and expanding its network.
