This presentation will focus on the preservation and documentation of the Light \u0026amp; Sound Design community through its cassette archive, which consists of recordings of past performances. The archive mostly consists of experimental music and its many subdivisions both electronically, acoustically, and a bit of both. Community is a key part of the D.I.Y. scene, there is a pay-asyou-wish initiative, which decenters profit, listenings are often catered by local chefs, and contraceptives, as well as substance abuse resources, are also accessible free of charge. The actual archiving process is community focused and completely D.I.Y.. We may digitize and listen during a yoga session, share ideas and snacks with friends of the space. We sometimes live stream our archive nights sets through an internet radio station which has allowed us to reach a larger audience. Once a week, we air a live mix of seven cassettes featuring past performances during the lifetime of the collective. Grassroots movements within the archiving world is refreshing, it has allowed us to try different practices and connect with the community in a safe and collaborative manner.
